Walkers will probably prefer the cliff walk of approximately 8 miles. Leave of the bus at the top of the hill at Yeates. Walk across the common by the side of the Citadel Ditch. Turning right to the the Borstal Institute and go through their narrow opening two the cliff path on to the coastguard station at Grove point.

Follow the path to Church Ope Cove, where there is a beach café. Leave the cliffs for a short distance for the road to Southwell, where the cliff path goes to the Lighthouse, Bill and Pulpit Rock.

From Pulpit Rock there is a good path back along the western cliffs stop. Those who prefer to leave the bus at Fortuneswell, instead of going on to Easton, may follow the road northwards to Castletown and the harbour. On the left is the entrance to Portland Castle. From the old village of Chesil, below Fortuneswell, footpaths lead through West Weares to Hallelujah Bay, a popular place for picnics. Tea and refreshments are available nearby.
